A song about a bird all to scarce now in Scotland. I had been playing around with an old Scottish trad '' Lord Lovat's Lament '' for a couple of years, and felt the lyrics for this song fitted loosely around the traditional melody surprisingly well. The song came together when Will and I were staying in Torridon, a small village in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland surrounded by steep rising mountains and deep sea lochs. Having Patsy Reid play fiddle on our recording was the icing on the top - a dream come true to have one of Scotland’s finest fiddlers add her magic to it.
